BECOMING A THERAPY TEAM
Attend a PetPartners Handlers Seminar: This 8-hour seminar is required for all handlers interested in volunteering with their dog as a registered PetPartner therapy team. This course is taught WITHOUT your dog. The course is also available online. Please note — this seminar is required for PetPartner evaluation and registration.

Even if visiting isn’t in your team’s immediate future but you want to learn more about your dog experiences the world, this is the class for you.
Attend a PetPartners evaluation: After you’ve completed the PetPartners Handlers Seminar, sign up for an evaluation. Each evaluation is approximately 30 minutes and measures your team’s skill and aptitude over increasingly stressful circumstances.
Complete your PetPartners registration: Your study materials will have all the necessary paperwork that you will submit to PetPartners to secure your registration. Within a few weeks, you’ll receive an email confirming your registration and your team may begin visiting.
Find a visiting location that’s right for you and your dog: We’re here to help you with this one, too. Our Volunteer Coordinator will help you navigate all your visiting options and find the one that works for you — and your dog. She’ll even visit with you until you’re comfortable going on your own.
